I have noticed that in society today there is an ever growing sense of smugness. We can see it in ourselves and in our children. People, for one reason or another, feel some sort of undeserved entitlement. They feel as though they should get something for no other reason than just because. When I was growing, when I wanted something, I had to fucking earn it. I’m talking digging ditches, mowing grass, baby-sitting, hell anything. I was 18 years old before I got my own gaming system, and that is because I had a job and worked close to forty hours a week and went to school. Some kids probably don’t even know how to clean up their own rooms anymore, they have a lady for that…

I tried to teach my kids that there is no such thing as entitlement that everything they have has to be earned. Now because they live with their mom, they have begun to get that entitled behavior. It’s quite sad really. I think we as the newest generation of parents have let our kids down. We want them to have the best life, which isn’t a bad thing, but in doing so they have come to learn that everything gets handed to you and you don’t have to earn anything. This world is going to shit because the “smug” has taken over. I’m afraid that they will all learn a very hard lesson in years to come. I just hope that I am around to see the little fuckers learn it…

Where are all the opportunities in this “great nation”

I’ve been looking for a job for a little while now and can not seem to find one. Now the news is telling me that unemployment is down and that companies are hiring right and left. Dear Media… Where are these jobs? I feel that I am more than qualified for these so called jobs, yet, search after search turns up nothing. I am doing all that I can, enrolling into classes, even becoming more willing to except lower positions and still nothing. The corporations have way to much power and I am afraid that a lot of people are not getting jobs because of this. Maybe its time to stand up like we used too, or maybe I need to become more complacent with having nothing…
